Most people use Apache to run their servers, yes Apache is a good choice but it takes up a lot of memory. So, for me, Lighttpd is a better!

Install Amarok 1.4 on Ubuntu Jaunty

Alright, so you say ‘why install Amarok 1.4 if Amarok 2 is available?’ Lots of people want the previous Amarok back since they don’t like Amarok 2 and KDE 4 Just like me

Amarok 2 is not my cuppa…it’s heck of slowww for me and since it only works ‘good’ on KDE (which I don’t use), so it’s not good for me (till now…, it seems the Amarok team is working on improving stuff in it, hopefully the next version will be more improved. But as of now, I’m gonna stick with Amarok 1.4. I’m on Xubuntu (Jaunty) and it works perfectly! I even tested it on Gnome and it works flawlessly. I always liked how 1.x worked…the 2.x series is…well…bloated….

Firefox Bug – Font Rendering Problem In Ubuntu

I was compiling Firefox 3.5 on Ubuntu and I did all the optimizations and stuff to get better font rendering in it (see my other tutorial), but it seems that Firefox 3.5 has a bug; The font rendering is really bad even when you have all the configure options set and you have a subpixel hinting enabled build of cairo (default in Ubuntu). Here’s the bug filed at launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/379761
